Four years ago, October 2016, my husband Dennis was diagnosed with throat cancer.  At the time, he was given eight to 10 months life expectancy.  Being dealt the news was overwhelming and the worse news we could have heard.  At the time, very few at Fairway knew about the diagnosis, however, once Liz Steinhaus, who at the time was the administrator of HBR, heard the news she offered my family to go there.  Our intent was for our family to go to HBR to say “goodbye” to Dennis.  We were able to laugh together, cry together, have meals together, play games.  We used the organ to have a worship service together before everyone departed for the weekend, and just gave us a chance to “be” together.  Walking in to HBR causes calmness, peace and the presence of God, and we are forever thankful for the opportunity to have gone there. By the Grace of God, Dennis is still with us.

I’ve had the blessing to be able to stay at Hidden Beauty Retreat with my extended family.  Words cannot express the peace and beauty of this home.  It is truly a tranquil getaway and was so special to have the time together and space to all be under one roof.  The vision our CEO had for this home is amazing.  We will always cherish the laughter and memories made at HBR!

We had our IT Leadership meetings at HBR, such a great peaceful place to reflect with fellow teammates on achieving our goals for the year. The bonding experience and beauty of the facility created the perfect setting for our team. Eternally grateful to have had the chance to be there!

"We visited HBR as a family, November of 2018. My grandma had recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and we were also going to becoming up on the birthday of my cousin who had passed a year and a half prior along with the anniversary of my uncles death. As a family, we needed to be together for some healing, laughs and tears --- HBR was the perfect place for this. It was so amazing to be able to spend time together with no distractions from the outside world, we were able to take in the beauty of the house and property and be able to just enjoy each other. With the vast amount of room, we made it our priority to go through old family photos and gather as much information about our lineage from my grandma, as time is always precious. HBR allowed our family to come together and overcome some of the tragedies we have faced as a family – for this, we are forever grateful."
